I have passed by this restaurant several times, and finally decided to try it out last Sunday afternoon. Upon arrival there was a line and a bit of a wait, but I honestly assumed I would encounter the after church crowd. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that every plate you order comes with a meat, three sides, a drink, and dessert. I ordered the meatloaf, greens, yams, and broccoli cheese rice. For the drink I chose the Kool-Aid, and for the dessert I chose the strawberry cake. The meatloaf and greens were delicious, but the broccoli cheese rice was definitely missing something. I could also taste that they likely put too much nutmeg (for my personal taste) in the yams, but they weren't horrible. Overall I only paid $16.99 which is a great deal in my opinion. Despite not being completely satisfied with all items I tried, I would definitely try it again.
Lisa's Soul Food Cafe Now this place is special. I came in during lunch time and you always know it's a pretty good place to eat when you see your elders standing in line waiting for the food. I tried the vegetables I tried to meats I tried to desserts. I tried not to go into a food coma as I became super sleepy after eating everything and still had about 5 hours of my work shift to go . Note: It's still set up for COVID-19 restrictions as of November 2022. Simply means there's no seating inside and everything is to go. That's not stopping anything these days. People (Older) were still wearing their mask and it was starting to line up outside the door.
The few times I've been food was great, a coworker was visiting from Chicago and I brought them a plate he was talking about moving here. The people are friendly enough they are super busy. Area is good
